What angle to specify

30° for airports, metros and long-rise transport hubs — reduces passenger fatigue over rises above 6 m. 35° for shopping malls where floor-to-floor height is 4–5 m and footfall is bidirectional. Speed 0.5 m/s standard, 0.65–0.75 m/s for heavy-traffic transport.

Why heavy-duty class matters

Public-transport escalators need EN 115-1 heavy-duty class (Annex E): 1000 mm step width, auxiliary brake in addition to operational brake, skirt-safety switches on both sides, comb-plate impact switch, missing-step and step-level monitoring, and handrail-inlet safety devices — designed for 140 hours/week continuous operation.

How Liftech commissions

Full-load run-in (25/50/75/100% for 30 minutes each), auxiliary brake torque validation (must hold rated down-load), handrail speed match to step band (±2%), skirt-safety switch trip verification and step-level monitoring test before handover. Result is documented in the EN 115-1 commissioning report.
