Elevator Guide Shoes
Sliding and roller guide shoes for car, counterweight and safety-gear frames — smooth, quiet running.
In short
An elevator guide shoe is the component mounted on the car sling and counterweight frame that rides along the guide rail to keep the car aligned. Sliding guide shoes use replaceable polyurethane inserts on a lubricated rail; roller guide shoes use three spring-loaded rollers on a dry rail for quieter, smoother high-speed travel.
Engineering overview
The guide shoe is the running interface between the moving car or counterweight and the fixed guide rail. It keeps the frame centred on the rail, absorbs lateral load transfer as passengers board, and damps building sway at height — so a worn shoe shows up immediately as a rattle, sideways sway or a knock at each rail joint.
Liftech Global supplies both families. Sliding guide shoes use replaceable polyurethane or nylon inserts running on a lubricated rail head; they are compact, inexpensive and standard up to about 1.75 m/s. Roller guide shoes use three spring-loaded polyurethane-tyred rollers per shoe that run on a dry rail; they cut vibration and noise and are the correct choice above 1.75 m/s and for premium ride quality.
Fitment is defined by three numbers: rail head width (b2), the shoe jaw depth, and the bracket bolt pattern. Shoes are mounted at all four corners of the car sling plus the counterweight frame, and are always replaced in matched sets so the car does not run off-centre.
Types & variants
Fixed sliding guide shoe
Rigid cast or pressed body with a replaceable PU/nylon liner — counterweight and low-rise car duty up to ~1.0 m/s.
Spring-loaded sliding guide shoe
Sprung jaw self-compensates rail joint steps and DBG variation, up to ~1.75 m/s.
Roller guide shoe (3-roller)
Two side rollers plus one face roller with adjustable spring pressure, dry rail, 1.0–4.0 m/s.
Heavy-duty roller shoe
Larger 100–150 mm rollers with damping for high-rise and freight cars above 2 000 kg.
Safety-gear frame shoe
Compact shoe integrated in the safety-gear block to hold jaw-to-rail clearance.
Inserts & spares
Loose PU/nylon liners and roller tyres for maintenance replacement.
