When is a hydraulic elevator the right choice?

Hydraulic is optimal for low-rise (< 18 m) heavy-load applications where slab structure is weak, overhead is tight, or the client wants to avoid a machine room on the roof. It is not recommended for speeds above 0.63 m/s or duty cycles above 60 starts/hour.

Does a hydraulic elevator need a machine room?

A pump-room is required but can be located up to 15 m from the shaft, and is typically a small enclosure (2×2 m) at the lowest served floor rather than an overhead room.

Liftech Global hydraulic elevators are the workhorse for low-rise heavy-load applications: workshops, showrooms, low-rise commercial buildings and back-of-house service lifts. A submerged hydraulic pump unit drives the car through a direct or indirect ram, delivering exceptional payload capacity at speeds up to 0.63 m/s.

Because the load is carried by the ram rather than by the building structure, hydraulic lifts allow very low overhead (2400 mm) and eliminate the need for a machine room at the top. The pump unit is housed in a compact enclosure adjacent to the shaft, up to 15 m away.
